To protect the image of Murano glass and also to guarantee to the customer the origin of the product and that it has been made using traditional artistic methods born and developed over a thousand years in the island of Murano.

The security that the product is genuine Murano glass, made in Murano island according to glassmaking tradition.

The exclusive owner of the trademark is the Veneto Region.

The trademark is provided by Veneto Region according to the law passed on December 23rd 1994. From 2001 the promotion of the trademark world wide has exclusively been handed over to the Promovetro Consortium.

Only companies producing artistic glass on the island of Murano can apply for the trademark: if granted, they then become a “concessionary company” of the trademark “Vetro artistico di Murano”.

Concessionary companies apply a special stick-on label to their products to guarantee without any doubt the origin of the manufacture.

The label is the trademark’s logo and can either be displayed with red and gold colors or blue and gold colors according to the different kind of glassmaking techniques.
