In 1966 in an old furnace of Murano, a young boy set to working the glass. His interest and knowledge of glass were to be the fundamental points that would shape him. His aim was to become a glassmaster in that very furnace. That boy, now with forty years of experience working with glass grew up to be the master Gabriele Urban who has worked in that furnace since 1995: la Fornasotta. We would like to mention that the company has a homely environment where everyone co-operates with one another: from our relationships with the clients, through to the creation of new pieces. Everyone enriches the development of each creation with their own ideas and opinions, whilst always bearing in mind the one objective : Murano is synonymous with glass. At Fornosotta, everything is taken into consideration, looking for that echo of sensitivity created by light, reflections and colours. We can therefore say that this furnace is a creative example of the various Muranese glass techniques: from the classic manufacture of murrine alle tessere (woven glass) and simple stemware, to intricate designs with glass powder. In addition to this, other extravagant creations are available and can be carried out on request.
