Founded in 1862 the Glass School is the guardian of the thousand year old tradition of Murano Glass. Abate Zanetti Glass School aims to promote the importance of Murano in the glassmaking world, to make known its characteristics and peculiarities, disseminating the passion and the high artistic value of this ancient craft. The excellent courses offered by the School are only the showcase of the inexhaustible glassmaking possibilities that Murano has to offer, such as the teaching capabilities that Murano Masters are able to put at the disposal of artists, professionals, craftsmen and glass lovers of all ages. We will do it with even more professionality and with the help of those who will choose to partecipate to our courses giving us valuable suggestions to improve. Murano Glass School is the heir of of an old Muranese institution, the Design School for Glassmakers, founded in 1862.
The premise is an old archeologically-relevant industrial building of the 30’s, fully restorated and yet manteining its original characteristics.
The company managing the school is partecipated by Venice City Hall, the Provincial Government of Venice and the Chamber of Commerce of Venice.
The teachers that collaborate with the school are the best Glass Master of Murano, renown all around the world. Periodically famous international artist and designers are invited to hold lessons and courses .
The school is active all year round and holds courses, founded by the European Social Found, for professional qualification, courses organized with specific professional associations, italian and foreign schools and courses related to specific technologies.
Many are the active courses both theoretical and practical: design, glass art’s history, glass technology, english, informatics, autoCAD. Practical lessons of blown glass in furnace, lampwork, enamel and gold leaf decoration, hatching, glass grinding, glass windows and fusing, animate our several laboratories.
Along the normal didactic activity are taking place many other interesting initiatives such as exhibitions, congresses and creative workshops.
