The Digital Venice Week, hosted “Excellence in digital” an event dedicated to the most important products of Made in Italy, an initiative which could not be missed by Murano glass. On that occasion a selection of some of the most representative works of Murano glass, made by some companies associated with Consorzio Promovetro Murano was presented.

A selection made of about 10 artworks, representing a collection of some of the techniques that distinguish Murano glass, exposed at the Arsenale during the event sponsored by the Italian Presidency of the European Council under the auspices of the Ministry for the economic development.

“An important event for Murano Glass Companies – says Luciano Gambaro, President of Consorzio Promovetro – because it is a meeting for the worlds of politics and industry throughout Europe.

We have to be here to reaffirm the importance of our history and our art.”

The artisanal production of Murano, as you may recall, has already jumped on the trampoline of the digital world. Indeed Google, through Google World Cultural Institute, together with Unioncamere, ha created a platform dedicated to the Italian excellences: Murano glass has been selected along with other 47 Italian typical products including silk, ceramics, gold and many other sectors to join the network and promote the excellences of our country around the world, and at the same time and support young people as promoters of the Italian economy’s transition to the digital world.

This is a great opportunity for Murano Glass, such as the project we are pursuing on Wikipedia – continues Gambaro – Every day we invest our energies to raise awareness of the Murano glass, to combat counterfeiting and shoddy goods, made abroad. Is also a way to help spread a message of protection to the final customers, so that they can be aware of what they’re buying.
