The Murano Glass Street Art project fuses the age-old traditions of master Murano glass makers with contemporary creativity in its most cutting-edge form: street art! This year, Consorzio Promovetro Murano launched a totally unprecedented partnership in order to proceed with the promotion initiatives for the Vetro Artistico® Murano trademark in recent years.
In July, eight internationally renowned street artists gave the interior of the Effetre Murano glass factory a fresh look by decorating it with a number of large murals. Meanwhile, the glass masters from 14 Murano companies and laboratories created unique glass pieces inspired by the artists’ distinctive patterns.
The results of this unprecedented alliance was officially presented on Tuesday 10 September 2019 during a full day of events as part of The Venice Glass Week 2019, which ended with live performances, drinks and a DJ set during an exclusive event.
The murals and the glass creations were on display (with free entrance) at the Effetre Murano throughout The Venice Glass Week from 7 to 15 September, attracting an audience of more than 2.000 visitors from Venice, Italy and abroad.
The initiative is being promoted by Consorzio Promovetro Murano with support from the Regione Veneto and Camera di Commercio di Venezia Rovigo. A first-hand role is being played by glass masters and artisans from 14 companies that are lincesed to display the Vetro Artistico® Murano trademark: AAV Barbini Specchi Veneziani, Effetre Murano, La Perla Veneziana, NicolaMoretti, Simone Giovanni Cenedese Murano, Massimiliano Schiavon Art Team, Ercole Moretti, Zanetti Murano, Tiozzo Sergio di Claudio Tiozzo, La Fornasotta, Costantini Glass Beads, Gambaro & Tagliapietra, Wave Murano Glass and Vetrate Artistiche Murano.
