After the success of the first edition of the international contest “A Goto for Venice“, on March 22nd the second edition was launched during a press conference held at Palazzo Mocenigo in Venice.
The contest, organized by the Fondazione Musei Civici Venezia, the Alliance Française of Venice, Consorzio Promovetro Murano, David Landau and the Brandolini and Rosenberg families, is open to all people aged between 18 and 30 and call for the drawing and realization of a “goto”, the typical drinking glass used in Murano glass furnaces.
The competition is dedicated to the memory of Marie de la Angliviel Beaumelle Brandolini, former president of the Alliance Française in Venice, a passionate artist and expert of the art of Murano.
Participation and projects must be presented by August 31, 2016 through the website www.ungotopervenezia.com.
All projects must be original and never presented in any competition before; only glass in all its forms can be used.
Ten projects will be selected by a special commissione and their related artworks will be presented in an exhibition at the Murano Glass Museum planned for February 2017.
The winning goto will be donated to the Murano Glass Museum to be exposed in the room dedicated to Marie Brandolini.
The competition will conclude with a press conference and an awards ceremony planned for late November 2016, when a charity auction of the nine remaining selected products will be held t support AIRC and cancer research. The designer of the winning project will be awarded with a scholarship of € 2,500.00.
